MUIRHEAD TROPHY

Only open to curlers who are members of clubs which are affiliated to Scottish Curling.  All entrants must also be valid Scottish Curling members for the competition season. Restricted to first eight pairs entered.

Prize:  The Muirhead Trophy and the opportunity to represent Stirling at the Scottish Curling National Pairs Finals (usually in Stranraer) for which SCG wil contribute half the entry fee.
PAIRS COMPETITION

Open to a team of any 2 curlers playing in a qualifying competition at their local Rink. Winners of SCG’s Pairs Competition automatically qualify and receive the Muirhead Trophy and a cash prize of 50% of the entry fee for the SC championship – normally played at Stranraer on the first weekend (Friday to Sunday) of March.

  • Muirhead Pairs Winners

    A good day of excellent curling took place on Saturday in the Muirhead Pairs.  It was especially pleasing to see four of our juniors competing.  The pool stages were closely contested, and eventually the top two of each pool progressed to the semi-finals.  

    Craig and Conner McCallum (Loch Ard) met Murray Henderson & Arran Bauer (Stirling Young Curlers) in the first semi, where it was all square going into the final end.  The SYC juniors managed to steal a three to progress to the final.

    A second very close semi followed, with James Dunn & Ian More (Loch Ard) meeting Lee & Judith McCleary (Keir), with Dunn & More running out narrow winners.

    In the final, the juniors Henderson & Bauer played an exceptional game, with Dunn & More conceding after five ends at 11 – 1.  They are now winners of the Stirling Muirhead Pairs, and qualify to represent Stirling at the National Pairs competition.

  • Pairs final

    Congratulations to James Dunn and John More on winning the Muirhead Trophy Pairs Competition on Saturday. They beat Derek Young and Norman Ainslie 7-3. They now have the opportunity to go through to represent Stirling at the National Pairs Championships.
